Awasi is not the traditional kind of hotel. Instead, they aim to tailor memorable travel experiences through lodging, gastronomy, and outings while assuring guests' intimacy, freedom, and comfort. Awasi believes that luxury is best expressed not by ostentation but by the beauty of the simple, comfortable, and natural objects surrounding us. They also think that elaborate decoration or overwhelming infrastructure has little value if not accompanied by outstanding service and the warmth of personal attention.
This property is located within San Pedro de Atacama, a few blocks away from the town square, the old Church, and the Museum. This allows guests to experience what life used to be and still is in the millennial Atacama oasis. A historic wall surrounds the Awasi property. A small street called Tocopilla separates part of the installations. The walls are the restaurant, bar, pool, living room, and five circular rooms with spacious private patios and solariums. Crossing Tocopilla is the reception area, and, skirting a large patio, there are three rectangular rooms. To assure guests' comfort and privacy, they only have 8 cottages, each at least 500 square feet with a private patio and outdoor shower.
During the day, the thatched roofs let warm sunlight filter through. The pool with comfortable deck chairs invites you to enjoy the Atacama sun and relaxing space. At sundown, the fire is lit, and a bar under the stars celebrates your stay with exquisite delicacies that go down well after a day full of nature. The Cuisine and restaurant, for the exclusive use of their guests, guarantee privacy. Their team of dedicated professionals, together with the chef, have designed a sophisticated menu: a fusion of Altiplano and international food, giving you a taste of new flavors and aromas using typical ingredients of the area, which are part of the staples used by the native peoples: purple potatoes, patasca (a stew made with tripe, veal, potatoes, stewed corn, and peppers), quinoa, or chañar (a meaty, sweet fruit from the Chilean chañar or palo verde tree). So wake up every morning to homemade delights and be charmed during the day and night with a menu customized to your taste and needs.
Their excursions are as extensive and varied as the unbelievable natural and cultural surroundings. Each cottage is assigned a personal guide and vehicle, allowing guests to choose what is most attractive to them without adjusting to others' pace or preference. This way, they customize every excursion to each guest's interests, objectives, and physical conditions. Furthermore, to operate their outings with comfort and security, they have a modern fleet of 4WD vehicles equipped with communication and GPS systems, which allow us to reach places not accessible to most tourists who visit San Pedro de Atacama.
Awasi has signed an agreement with the British company EcoSecurities to offset its greenhouse emissions by purchasing carbon credits in several eco-friendly projects worldwide. As the first carbon-neutral hotel in Chile, Awasi has become one of Latin America's leading hotels. Awasi's design and architecture also express commitment to sustainable tourism since all the materials used in its construction were obtained from the surrounding area.
