Sheen Falls Lodge falls lodge is a luxurious resort in Ireland's southwest. It offers guests a unique style and elegance. This original 18th-century fishing lodge is nestled between Kenmare Bay and its waterfalls. It has well-appointed rooms and suites that are furnished with soft fabrics. La Cascade is the main restaurant. In addition, guests can enjoy casual dining in the Restaurant Lounge or Oscars Bar & Bistro.
The facilities include a wine cellar and a Health Club with an Indoor Pool. There are also a variety of spa treatments at Easanna Spa. Moreover, some outdoor activities include clay pigeon shooting, complimentary hotel bikes, and private Salmon fishing. There are also tennis courts, falconry, and horse riding. Plus, guests can go sailing and kayaking. Not to mention the two 18-hole championship courses. Relais and Chateaux offer exceptional personal service. Six cottages and six villas are also on the estate. Each cottage offers a breathtaking view of Kenmare Bay from 2 to 5 bedrooms.
The lobby is striking with its dramatic red-carpeted staircase, flanked by lion statues and crystal chandeliers. However, most of the other areas exude casual elegance. The reception area features a leather couch, an oriental rug, a coat of arms, and a wood-burning fireplace. The drawing rooms and Sun Lounge also offer excellent views overlooking Kenmare Bay. Besides, the library is not just a place for guests to relax but has a wide selection of books. The leather couches and fireplace make it a cozy spot to read.
You will find Sheen Falls Lodge, a short distance from Kenmare. This small town is known for its brightly painted buildings and charming surroundings. It is also a great base to explore County Kerry. The area is famous for its scenic drives (the Slea Head Drive and the Ring of Kerry). Plus, there are other cultural attractions like Muckross House. Furthermore, Kerry International is one hour away. The property is also not far from the Beara Peninsula.
The hotel's gracious proportions were redesigned in 2019. They have a country-house look with modern touches. At the reception, two large antler chandeliers welcome guests. Christine Bowen, a local artist, creates artwork for the hotel.
The gardens also offer stunning views, and there are many crackling fireplaces. Although the bedroom wing was built on top of the original building in 1990, it doesn't have as much architectural flair. But the surrounding scenery more than makes up for this. In addition, it has a loyal Irish community that includes families and couples and is very popular among wealthy Americans.
The service is professional, friendly, and attentive. Outdoor pursuits are well-catered for. Moreover, the hotel has its riding stables. Guests can also borrow bikes to explore the Sheen Valley. They also have access to the Sheen River, which is salmon-rich. Clay pigeon shooting and falconry are also available. Plus, you can go on boat trips to see the coast's wildlife or play golf at one of many nearby courses.
There are 72 guest rooms at the hotel. Each has views of either Kenmare Bay or the Sheen River. There are five types of rooms; some suites, including deluxe rooms. They all have balconies and separate living rooms. Moreover, even the smallest rooms are light and airy.
The rooms are less traditional in design than the communal areas. They have simple color schemes in silvery, mellow, and pale gold. These colors are complemented by walnut furniture that is mid-century inspired and herringbone fabrics. Additionally, marble bathrooms come with separate showers in many cases. Plus, baths are available in all.
Two Bay Villas and Three cottages are located on the grounds. They are away from the hotel and have traditional-style thatched roofings. They offer a home-away-from-home experience with easy access to all hotel facilities. Additionally, all cottages have ensuite bedrooms. They also include a full kitchen and sitting and dining areas.
Every cottage is also serviced at least once a day. All amenities are available to cottage guests. Furthermore, continental Breakfast is offered in the hotel. The cottages also provide views of the lake. However, they are not called cottages but are spacious and well-equipped with all modern amenities and free Wi-Fi.
La Cascade is the main restaurant. It has a formal dining setting, with white tablecloths and candlelight. It also features live piano music and beautiful views of the waterfalls. The food is also delicious. There are two- and three-course prix-fixe menus available. La Cascade also offers a quality-free breakfast buffet with fresh fruits, meats, and pastries.
Additionally, the Restaurant Lounge is a casual dining option. The red leather club chairs with a wood-burning fireplace create a cozy atmosphere. Dishes are simpler to prepare. Expect items like an Irish beef burger or roast chicken breast.
The Sun Lounge is another dining area. It is a sophisticated sitting room with wood floors, an oriental rug, and beautiful views of Kenmare Bay. You can also enjoy drinks, afternoon tea, and snacks here all day.
The Cocktail Bar features a wooden bar, an extensive whiskey selection, red club seats, and Cuban cigarettes. Moreover, the brick wine cellar houses over 10,000 bottles of wine. Each evening, the sommelier will host candlelit port and wine tastings.
The hotel's pool and outdoor activities make it popular for families. There are cots, rollaway beds, and interconnecting rooms. They also have dedicated menus, plus nine rooms have pull-down Murphy beds. And don't forget to see Bonane's Lorge chocolate factory with its workshops.
