Cape Weligama is a very different hub from its namesake town and the seaside hotels surrounding it. With its magnificent wooden building, vibrant gardens, and native Sri Lankan food, it embodies the essence of the country. Wild Coast Tented Lodge is the latest addition to a collection of three resorts. It sits in the Yala National Park. Moreover, all three Resorts are owned by Resplendent Ceylon. They provide a combination of a safari experience with a stay at a tea plantation and an encounter with the sea.
One of the best places to stay in Sri Lanka is at the top of a palm-lined peninsula, overlooking the Indian Ocean and the Sri Lankan coastline. To make the most of their position, the hotel's proprietors have carved out spectacular cliff-top views for guests to enjoy beverages or a private dinner. However, if you don't mind that there is no genuine beach, you may still go for an afternoon swim in the calmer waters on either side of the headland. In addition, it takes 40 minutes to travel to Galle's 17th-century fort, a must-see attraction in the area.
The 12-acre headland is all for the resort, surrounded by lush gardens full of jewel-toned flowers and trees. Two or three large freestanding houses with green lawns and 15-meter swimming pools are often seen together in their private garden. It's hard to find other people outside the restaurant and swimming pool areas. It's possible to ride a buggy around the resort. But, no distance is too far for you to walk to get to.
The quality of the workforce is first-rate. Room service is flawless, and personnel quickly react to requests, despite the lack of butlers. The restaurant's cooks interact with customers in a friendly manner. You may see the most stunning coastline views from the 60-meter crescent-shaped Moon Pool. It is only open to those above the age of 12.
Downstairs, a well-equipped gym and a relaxed surf bar spill out onto a terrace with walkways leading to breathtaking ocean views. The watersports center also offers activities. These include cycling, surfing, whale watching, diving, and a family pool and a spa villa.
It looks like an old Sri Lankan village because 39 private Suites and Villas are on the natural slopes of Weligama's headland. Incorporating tones of ochre, sunny yellow, and caramel into the design, architects Lek Bunnag and team drew inspiration from both modern and colonial styles. The bathroom, with its ornate mirrors and marble floor, exudes luxury. Because Cape Weligama has such a strong sense of history, each of the rooms at the hotel is named after a famous person who visited Ceylon in the past. In addition, it has eight stone-circled gardens that are near the Villas.
Additionally, each garden has two or three Villas that stand alone. There is also a 15-meter crescent-shaped infinity pool (shared pool) in the middle of the garden. First, for the first time in Sri Lanka's history, the Duplex Two Bedroom Cape Pool Villa has ocean views from both bedrooms on two levels and a private infinity pool on the upper level.
All of the four-bedroom Suites are around the Cove pool. They're great if you want to stay in a beach villa and enjoy the extra amenities and activities. There is Sonos wireless audio, a vast music library, and movies that you can watch on the big screen in the rooms. There is also a steam room, Ophir toiletries, large bathrooms with two sinks, and a stone. You can also play your music.
Then, let your sense of taste take you on a tour of this exotic island! Many of the restaurants at the hotel are some of the best in Sri Lanka. For example, when you go to the Ocean Terrace Restaurant at Cape Weligama, you can show how much you care about where you live by eating only the best fish of the day. Chefs worldwide come to the Tableau Restaurant, which is on the cliff edge. They make beautiful, seasonal, and sustainable food in front of you.
There are a lot of good wines from all over the world that guests can drink at the restaurants at their hotel or resort. At Cape Weligama, afternoon tea is a tradition. This is not because its parent firm, Dilmah Conservation, grows and manufactures a wide variety of Sri Lankan teas. Instead, when you go to the Cape Club for Ceylon high tea, sunset cocktails, and nightcaps under the stars, you pay homage to the island's rich history.
From the comfort of your room or villa, enjoy the exhilarating experiences of some of Sri Lanka's best spa hotels. Spa staff will come to your hotel room or villa to pamper you with special spa facilities. This is the ultimate Ceylonese indulgence.
You can also spend the day at the resort's spa villa. Uses sandalwood, nutmeg, and Ceylon tea in an organic, homegrown Sri Lankan spice scrub that soothes aching muscles. Besides, there are steam rooms for pleasure and fitness. Getting a massage outside or a facial scrub with scents is best to relax. Finally, you can enjoy a peaceful bath in a stone bathtub before sleeping on a comfy bed.
Weligama is a small town on the coast, but its beaches are the main reason people go there. A watersports center and refreshment shack are on the east side of the Cape Weligama luxury resorts. Plus, the west side has a more private stairway cut into the side of the rock. The central highlands of Sri Lanka are also home to most of the country's Ceylon tea trails, although the country's lower-lying slopes are also suitable for certain types.
Moreover, the Borderlands watersports center has classes for surfing and diving and rentals for kayaks and SUPs. It's possible to go on a cruise to see the sunset or enjoy a whale watch. Even if you spend the whole time at the resort, no one would be surprised. Your porch may be all you need to relax at the end of a long day.
