Nestled on the banks of Lake Zurich and a recent addition to the Michel Reybier-owned La Reserve stable of fine hotels is the outstanding La Reserve Eden du Lac, Zurich. It is a jewel in the crown of its many hotels and one of the finest luxury resorts in the region.
Known for its wealth and ability to draw in guests worldwide, particularly from the United States, Switzerland has some of the most beautiful scenery. Moreover, Lake Zurich has many of those places on its shores. This provides hotel guests and tourists with stunning vistas and continental European charm.
There has been a hotel on the site for over 100 years. The recent Philippe Starck-inspired remodeling has wowed guests with La Reserve's usually heady mix of brilliance and excellence. Moreover, it is only a short distance from the city center sights of Zurich, including the opera house. La Reserve Eden au Lac is a stunning hotel and a strong base for jet-setting around the local region and beyond.
Restyling the original hotel as a contemporary yacht club in its aesthetic, it superbly fits into its near aquatic and nautical location with a combination of features and fixtures. This resort guarantees to impress and delight.
Regarding overall facilities, La Réserve Eden au Lac has everything you would expect a luxury hotel to offer. It has excellent restaurant and bar facilities and a comprehensive fitness center, room service, and laundry service.
An extra feature not common among many hotels is guests' smoking rooms (fumoir). However, with the standard of these facilities, these are generally everything you would expect from a hotel. Moreover, there is excellent on-site concierge service.
Additionally, the fumoir's presence hints that children are welcome. However, the hotel facilities are more geared towards adults than families.
There will likely be something to suit you, with over 40 rooms and suites across various categories and sizes. Any individual or traveling party will find comfort during their stay in this fantastic hotel. The rooms are on the hotel's upper floors and have a stunning lake view over Lake Zurich. Moreover, many of these rooms have a nautical theme, befitting the hotel's general aesthetic.
The rooms also feature a maxi bar with a well-stocked international range of alcoholic beverages. Furthermore, bathrooms have a rain shower and a bathtub, with La Reserve providing the amenities from their luxury brand. There are also many cute touches. These include maps of the lake to be found throughout the hotel. Plus, there are room numbers as photographs of numbered sails to indicate different hotel rooms. This offers a cozy feel alongside classicism, modernity, intelligence, and creativity.
Additionally, the rooms are in subtle colors and relaxing shades, with red brick and rattan walls a common theme throughout. Flexibility in design, including interior doors in the corridors, means that various configurations are achievable through booking. This combines the collection of rooms into a private suite where desired. Moreover, a limited number of rooms have been adapted for guests with disabilities.
The Eden Kitchen is the main restaurant at La Réserve Eden au Lac. It provides a wide range of all-day a la carte dining options on the ground floor. However, the menu is all under the watchful eye of the chef, Italian Marco Ortolani. Here, the focus is on simple yet stylish dishes across various ingredients, with occasional inventive and creative offerings such as the braised pork belly.
A typical selection is the choice of Caliente or Crudo dishes, filled with various mouth-watering options. As well as fulfilling the role of the main restaurant, The Eden Kitchen also undertakes part of the hotel's main bar. It is just off the main lobby, serving a wide range of drinks, including many timeless cocktails worldwide.
For diners looking for something a little different, the other offering is at La Muña. It offers an unusual combination of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. Chef Tomoko Gunjii Hangartner looks after the food, with a rooftop panorama providing stunning views throughout the day and night.
The restaurant is named after the muña. Historically, this Peruvian plant is known for its healing abilities, particularly for altitude-related illnesses. Before joining La Reserve, Chef Gunjii had already garnered a reputation throughout Switzerland for his menus and food. Moreover, this restaurant expands onto the nearby terraces for sushi favorites during the summer.
You can enjoy a range of cigars in the smoke lounge. This area is formally called the Eden Cigar Lounge, where guests can enjoy a cognac or a whisky as they smoke. Unusual as it is within a hotel, as many hotels are non-smoking. It provides isolation regarding cigar smoke from the rest of the hotel. This means that it does not affect the enjoyment of non-smokers during their stay.
A compact, although well-equipped, and luxurious fitness center awaits all guests who stay at the hotel. It has stylish floor-to-ceiling mirrors. There is also tasteful wooden paneling and floors, allowing for a luxury feel as you exercise.
Booking an individual session with a personal trainer or coach is also possible. Yoga teachers are also available on request. Equipment includes bikes, treadmills, free weights, and gym mats for floor exercises. The gym is open 24 hours a day and accessible via a guest's room card, so it is possible to exercise at any time. This allows you to maintain or build your fitness whenever you like within the schedule of your stay.
