The History

Initially, Ayla Emirglu established a pension and a private beach in 1977 in Bodrum. With a keen eye for all things tranquil and natural - she created a haven for all guests. With her bed and breakfast service, Ayla's original aim was to make an inspiring environment for writers, painters, and other intellectuals. All continued to evolve and grow, like Bodrum, throughout the years. The seeds of the Macakizi concept continue to flourish with Ayla's son Sahir's vision and contemporary mind. Since 2000, Macakizi has been located in Türkbükü, and along with its private and famous beach, it has been transformed into a beautiful boutique hotel. This unique heaven is now being carried into the new millennium and further. This fascinating place exuded authenticity, beauty, and peace from the very beginning. All qualities are shared with the surrounding region. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, is found here. The medieval castle of Saint Peter overlooks the port of Bodrum, built by order of Saint John of Jerusalem.

Location

Overlooking the turquoise waters of the Aegean, backed up by hills, Macakizi Hotel is situated on the north side of the Bodrum peninsula in a lovely village called Türkbükü. Adorned with vibrant bougainvilleas and luscious plants, Macakizi sits against the sapphire seas of the Aegean. From Bodrum Airport 40 km - From Bodrum Center 22 km Macakizi is also conveniently located close to several Greek islands such as Kos, Rhodes, Patmos, or Mykonos.

Rooms & Suites

Macakizi has 53 rooms and 21 suites, featuring artwork by renowned Turkish artist Suat Akdemir and 'Yastik' by Rifat Özbek, duck feather pillows with a hint of lavender. Twenty-three additional garden view rooms overlook the lush gardens, while 30 sea view rooms offer Aegean vistas framed by hot pink bougainvilleas. All rooms and suites have been newly renovated. They are decorated with modern furnishing, travertine floors with underfloor heating, and open plan bathrooms with rain showers. Interiors of suites are designed with understated luxury while still keeping Bodrum style.

Dining

Macakizi offers dinner-inclusive accommodations so hotel guests can enjoy daily 3-course a la carte dinners (or buffet lunch) from the main fine-dining restaurant. Main Restaurant - Macakizi combines the traditional with the innovative in unexpected sophistication…Dinner The sumptuous Mediterranean menu, created by Executive Chef Aret Sahakyan, is served in an open-air dining room beneath 100-year-old olive trees as delicious aromas waft in from the open kitchen. Beach Bistro Mediterraneo - Mediterranean Small Plates & Bistro - each afternoon, the Bistro starts with a Bar Snack Menu. The Bistro turns into a Restaurant and is open until midnight.
