The Perry Cabin Inn was a private property after the 1812 war. Samuel Hambleton was the architect and builder of the original structure.

Hambleton named the adjacent farmland Navy Point. Today, it houses the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Moreover, St. Michaels is located in the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. It was known as "the town which fooled the British" because residents hung lanterns into trees to fool British cannons into moving the town.
