Lake Placid Lodge

Lake Placid Lodge offers guests an unsurpassed lodging experience in the Adirondacks. It is a majestic arts and crafts-style lodge with expansive views of the lake's crystal-clear water and leafy island. Moreover, it is built by hand according to an Arts and Crafts tradition. Plus, it is the only hotel located along the shores of Lake Placid.

Above all, it provides comfort and hospitality wherever you are. There are also several unique event spaces at the Lake Placid Lodge. These spaces are perfect for business meetings, family reunions, and romantic Adirondack weddings.

History

There was a rustic camp built on the shores of Lake Placid in 1882 by a German family. On the porches made with twigs, they could see the reflection of Whiteface Mountain in the lake all day. Up until 1946, the camp remained a private residence before being sold. Afterward, it became one of the finest hotels in Lake Placid, New York.

A half-century after its purchase, new owners recognized the ambiance of a grand Adirondack camp on the old property. Lake Placid Lodge was completely renovated to its former glory. It became one of the most famous hotels in the area. It offered outstanding services, cuisine, and accommodations.

Unfortunately, the original camp burned to the ground due to a massive fire in the winter of 2005. However, many local artisans began reconstructing the camp immediately. They did not intend to rebuild the Lodge but rather build a hotel unmatched anywhere. One that embodied a sense of comfort and luxury in the woods.

Location

The rustic design of Whiteface Lodge in Upstate New York recalls the glory of the historic Adirondack Great Camps of the Gilded Age. Moreover, Lake Placid's village is just a short walk away. This area is home to two Winter Olympic Games and various attractions.

There are also six million majestic mountain acres of Adirondack Park in the surrounding area. The largest protected area on the U.S. mainland. Furthermore, various outdoor activities take place in the breathtaking landscape. If you want to relax, expansive stone porches offer sweeping lake views.

Rooms and Suites

Luxury Lake Placid Lodging offers the perfect getaway. It provides the ideal complement to the interior's idyllic surroundings. The area is surrounded by lush woods in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Moreover, each guest room and the cabin are warm and comfortable. Plus, they are among the high swaying trees, genuinely offering the comfort of one's private camp.

The accommodations have thoughtful décor with soft fabrics and stone fireplaces holding logs. There is also polished wood and a custom-built bed that gives a nice feel.

During your quiet time in your fire-lit sanctuary, you can also see magnificent views of the outdoors through the diamond-paned windows. Besides, each luxurious accommodation has a soaking tub and is unique, so no two are alike.

The hotel comprises 30 air-conditioned guest rooms, five at the Main Lodge. Plus, there are 17 cabins along the lakeshore. Six suites adjoin the lakeside building, and two cottages face the lake. Furthermore, the hotel captures the essence of the legendary Adirondack Mountains.

Culinary Experience

The Farm-to-Table cuisine captures the essence of Adirondack cuisine and delights the senses. Not to mention the upscale ambiance and exceptional service. Embark on your day with a famous Lodge Breakfast in the Artisans' restaurant. Moreover, meet up with new and old friends at Maggie Pub. Or, take advantage of the Wine Cellar for an unforgettable private dining event.

Additionally, Chef Derek Leinonen's seasonal menus feature local seasonal ingredients and produce. Furthermore, you can choose from one of the world's best wine lists to complement your meal. Also, dine at the Lake Placid restaurants and get a dessert for two! You need to show your Lexus key to the server. Finally, select from various delicious dishes created by Chef Derek Leinonen.

Spa

Experience a relaxing spa treatment in your room available only for Placid Lodge guests. Many treatments can rejuvenate the body and mind of those enjoying a weekend getaway at the lakeside retreat. Besides, this is all while staying within your private room and cabin.

All kinds of massage are available, including deep tissue, sports, and Swedish. There is also reflexology, aromatherapy, togetherness, and maternity massage. There is also a sauna, steam room, and other expected spa facilities.

Fitness Center

Like you would at home, make sure you work out while on vacation. The fitness center has all the equipment you need. Therefore, burn off the calories gained during the holiday. Stay in shape throughout your trip.

Equipment available includes treadmills, stationary bikes, and ellipticals. Plus, there are machine weights and free weights. You can also rent equipment to use in the snow or on water if you like to get outside to exercise.

Activities

At Lake Placid Lodge, you can participate in various Adirondack activities. There are plenty of things to do and see at and around the hotel. However, it's also wonderful to stay in and do nothing.

A forest beckons, unmistakable streams gurgle, and pristine trails meander into the distance. The Adirondack Park comprises 46 mountains nearly 4,000 feet tall and 3,000 ponds and lakes. There are also about 30,000 miles of rivers and streams to explore.

Yet another traditional Adirondack activity is taking a nap under a lean-to. But, suppose you prefer curling up by the fireplace. Or you are tackling one of the Stave puzzles or exploring an ancient Adirondack trail. In that case, you'll find a wide variety of activities to enjoy every season.

Takeaway

Join your most excellent and dearest friends at your lodge resort. Experience lakeside luxury at its finest. Moreover, the entire hotel staff is at your service to help you organize every detail perfectly. Whether planning a family gathering, corporate retreat, wedding, or birthday party. So, sit on an Adirondack chair or a lounger by the lake for the day. Moreover, enjoy the views and nights with friends gathered around the bonfire.
