Montage Palmetto Bluff is an award-winning luxury inn tucked in on the May River at Bluffton in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, United States. The inn is one of the Montage brands of top-class international. The Montage Palmetto Bluff resort comprises a collection of upscale cottages and village homes in a beautiful 20,000-acre conservation area. Recent renovations have updated amenities and presented a tranquil first-class accommodation in a sublime setting.
The Lowcountry is a geographic region of the South Carolina coast, rich in its culture, architecture, and cuisine. This is an area of story-book beauty. A place of watery lagoons, saltwater marshes, and forests of oak trees smothered in velvety Spanish moss.
Moreover, a silvery river runs down to nooks where hidden beaches lie, dolphins leap, and bald eagle chicks take their first flights above the Atlantic Ocean. Historic architecture harmonizes with the scenery.
Montage Palmetto Bluff is 20 miles to the east of Hilton Head Island and 20 miles north of Savannah. The location is in South Carolina, between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. Furthermore, Savannah/Hilton Head Airport is about half an hour from the inn.
The grounds surround small attractive villages, and the Montage resort encompasses an extensive nature preserve. Yet, it retains a style reminiscent of its hunting lodge-rich heritage. The resort is an understated luxury blending in with its natural environment. Guests are greeted at a wide front porch leading into the main River House.
Additionally, the interiors are gracious with fine furnishings, carefully curated art and literary works, a sweeping staircase, and lovely views across the lagoon - The pretty cottages pepper the lush landscape. Furthermore, the staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They meet the stellar standards of all Montage brand luxurious accommodations.
The resort offers freshwater and saltwater fishing on the May River that flows into the Atlantic. There is also boating, paddle boarding, tubing, and sunset kayaking. Other sports facilities include the Palmetto Bluff Shooting Club and the eco-friendly Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. There is also an equestrian center and some tennis courts. Besides, other options are just walking or biking and enjoying the Palmetto Bluff conservancy's natural beauty.
To relax, there is a top-notch spa and beauty salon. There is also a fitness exercise room for the energetic. Moreover, social events like 'poaching, 3.30 p.m lemonade, and cookies on the porch encourage get-togethers. There is also an artist-in-residence program to try out, and kids are catered for with the Paintbox Activities Club.
Additionally, pets are welcome but must compete with the resort's dogs, who are said to be very amiable. Shopping and high-end boutiques are on the grounds (and a delightful chapel), along with a general store containing a cornucopia of buyable goods. Guests can also use golf carts and cycles to traverse the property. Gas lamps light the property at night.
There are 170 guestrooms, with several accommodation choices from inn suites to multi-room village homes. There are also free-standing buildings and cottages, some on the riverfront. The individual cottages are often chosen for those who want privacy and tranquility and feature closed-in porches.
More significant 3-bedroom opulent villa properties are La Riviera, Du Couchant, Menton, and Du Soleil. Standard features in all rooms include pine flooring, brass fittings, and floor-to-ceiling windows and doors. Additionally, there are porches, fine bed linens, and 4-poster beds.
Moreover, some properties have high vaulted ceilings, fireplaces, kitchens, and diners. There are also separate bedrooms/living rooms, plush chairs, sofas, and gorgeous views. Plantation shutters give shade and seclusion in all accommodations.
White marble bathrooms are large with deep standalone tubs, showers, and luxury bath products. Room service is also available, and 12 rooms are mobility-adapted.
Multiple dining options cater to every taste and mood. Signature restaurants draw on an eclectic mix of cuisines. However, they always use fresh produce from the river, farms, the ocean, and the finest local suppliers. In addition, the resort itself produces and provides carefully grown garden supplies for restaurants and cocktail bars.
The Canoe Club is fine dining with stunning views of the lagoon, river, and beyond to add to the pleasures of the upscale cuisine. So naturally, the dining area is stacked up with canoes, kayaks, and the like. Besides, the menus are smokey Southern classics.
Jessamine, a newer eatery, also has fine watery views, a swish courtyard with plush seating, and a seafood/steakhouse menu. Oyster dishes are a specialty here. Buffalo's is also an all-day diner. It serves wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, and the famous Biscuit Bar at breakfast.
The River House Restaurant is another one. It is a central meeting place with good menus and a wide selection of cocktails presented by fine mixologists. More cocktails are available at The Octagon Porch and Bar. This goes along with Southern-influenced menus and their signature most-requested fried chicken sandwich. Moreover, poolside dining and an Italian café are yet more options.
The tranquil, serene Spa Montage Palmetto Bluff offers a full range of personalized luxury face, body treatments, and therapies that harmonize with the natural environment. Guests can also enjoy two outdoor pools (one is adults-only) and saunas. Additionally, there are steam rooms, a plunge pool, and Jacuzzi. A fitness center, beauty salon, and boutique are also on-site.
The Montage Palmetto Bluff is very child-friendly, with flexible accommodation. It also has a host of activities arranged for kids and families together. The impressive wildlife, eco projects, river boating, and enchanting nature reserve give plenty of enjoyment for all ages. Moreover, guests can recollect bikes at the River House, and the three villages of Palmetto Bluff have many exciting things for kids to do. Besides, Swings and Bocce courts are in The Square.
Events are arranged all year round, with weekends and festive breaks to enjoy all the resort offers.
Montage Palmetto Bluff is a romantic getaway of calm beauty and Southern ease. The resort fits perfectly into this scene, respecting the environment and utilizing the natural benefits of the area. The alternative is perfect for a relaxing, enjoyable vacation with eco-friendly accommodation, organic and fresh local produce, and even a specially designed golf course to avoid disturbing the ecology.
