Mountain Shadows Resort is an AAA Four-Diamond boutique hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States. The resort reopened in February 2017 after an extensive renovation. The property features a new 18-hole championship golf course, restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, and an outdoor swimming pool. This is a great place to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Mountain Shadows Resort is in Paradise Valley. It is an iconic resort that opened in 1959. However, you can still see traces of the past throughout the resort. New guests can experience the same warm hospitality as past guests.
This resort was opened in Paradise Valley in 1959. It sits between Camelback Mountain and Mummy Mountain. The resort's name comes from the shadows cast each afternoon by the silhouettes. Over the years, the resort was popular with Hollywood stars and international visitors.
The hotel's chef, Victor Basil, delights both locals and visitors. Meanwhile, Dick Hallman's Orchestra serenaded diners with its music and dancers. As a result, the resort became an entertainment landmark. For example, it was used as the main backdrop for "The Brothers Brannagan," a detective drama. Besides, the Monkees shot another episode of their TV series on the property, making it a household name.
The resort was expanded in 1960. It added a par-56 golf course, a new hotel, a clubhouse, and private residences. Even imported palms and sand were not overlooked. But, the developer changed the property's name to "Del Webb's Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale" on January 1, 1961. He became the sole owner.
Marriott later bought the property in 1981 and changed its name to "Marriott's Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale and Country Club." But, they closed the resort in 2004. After the closing, multiple transactions took place. Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale saw its true revival in 2014. Woodbine Development Corp. and Westroc Hospitality joined forces to rebuild the resort from scratch. Construction began in 2015, and the resort reopened in 2017.
This resort is not far from Downtown Scottsdale, within the city limits of Gatlinburg, and on the road to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The area is famous for its art galleries, shopping, and nightlife. For example, guests can reach Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West in about half an hour. Plus, the Desert Botanical Garden is about seven miles away.
Besides, The Tesla Model X courtesy vehicle can get guests to the Echo Canyon trailhead within five minutes. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is about 10 miles from the resort.
Mountain Shadows offers 183 guestrooms. Standard Signature Deluxe rooms are available. Walls of glass make the showers stand out immediately. The tile also gives the shower floor a spa feeling. Besides, bath amenities come in refillable bottles. A curtain may be pulled out from the glass wall near the mattress to provide cover. For modesty, some rooms have two queen beds. The vanity and sink are also visible from the open, but the door in the loo provides privacy.
The bed linens are a contrast to the room's color scheme. Also, it's easy to plug in via USB ports or bedside electrical outlets. Each room also has a Keurig coffee maker and tea supply. On guestroom patios or balconies, smoking is permitted. Double rooms also have seating areas. In addition, the Villas feature hot tubs.
Here, you can enjoy a seasonal selection and drinks in the restaurant. After a round of golf, enjoy hearty, seasonal meals at Hearth '61 or classic eats and brews from Rusty's. Moreover, the Citizens Club has fresh, organic juices and snacks. Besides, with room service available 24 hours a day, you will feel at home as the guestroom.
Paradise Valley became a community in 1961. Residents were proud of their quality of life and desert scenery. Hearth '61 is a community initiative. It celebrates the town's heritage by inviting people to share delicious food and good times.
Charles Wiley is a famous chef who believes in using ingredients to create delicious dishes. He is inspired by traditional cooking techniques and old-fashioned flavor combinations. In this open-air restaurant, you can enjoy local brews, craft cocktails, and a wide selection of wines. The restaurant also boasts lovely mountain views and an impressive full kitchen.
Rusty's is a great place to start your 18-hole round or relax. The tradition here is that the player who scores the lowest on The Forrest Wager picks up a round of drinks. The name Rusty's honors Rusty Lyon. Scott Lyon, the developer responsible for the property's rebirth, was Rusty Lyon's father. Rusty was a prominent commercial realty expert in the Valley. He also loved golf. Rusty's Lounge and Golf Grill now hosts hungry golfers at The Short Course. So having a little fun with your fellow golfers over food and drink after a long day may be a good idea.
An organization of residents founded Paradise Valley back in 1961. This volunteer group set out to create a town with an excellent quality of living while protecting the area's natural beauty. The Citizens Club is a community that allows people to meet, socialize, and focus on their mental and physical health. Both residents and guests are invited to take in the breathtaking views that inspired the founders of Paradise Valley to unite.
Enjoy a quick round on an 18-hole course, par-3 golf. Arthur Jack Snyder designed and constructed the original Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale golf course in 1961. It became a favorite among Hollywood stars and socialites because of its isolation and stunning desert setting.
Later, the course architect redesigned the course to combine its rich history with modern features. The new layout is a tribute to the original. Besides, discover the specials and events for golf, as well as group activities and delicious food at The Forrest Wager and Rusty's. The Short Course will delight both beginners and pros of all ages.
Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale is in the heart of Paradise Valley. It offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and pool views. There are also a variety of amenities and activities for guests to enjoy. This resort is a luxury oasis in the Great Smoky Mountains.
